This is a classroom from Bodie, California. It was left in a state of "arrested decay" after the town was abandoned in the 1930's. Originally built in 1879 as a Lodging House, it was converted to a school house after the first one was burned down by a student who was sent home for getting in trouble. He began a fire behind the school for fun and it eventually spread and burned the original school down. | |
